INTRODUCTION

The IAAF was founded in Sweden in 1912 by 17 national athletic federations who saw the need for a governing authority, for an athletic programme, for standardised technical equipment and world records.

Today, The IAAF organises all of the major World Athletics Championship events. The competition programme also includes a series of league events, including The International AF Golden League and The Super Grand Prix Circuit. Athletes who win their event at all six meetings take a share of a USD 1 million jackpot. These league events run regularly throughout the season and they take place at various venues around the globe; including Paris, Qatar, London and Zurich. The AF Golden League and The Super Grand Prix Circuit series attract the top competitors in track and field events and stars such as Asafa Powell, and Shawn Crawford frequently take part.

The IAAF Archive is a collection of the best action from The AF Golden League and The Super Grand Prix Circuit from 2006 to the present day.
