INTRODUCTION
The Ryder Cup is contested every two years and involves a variety of matches being played by members of the two twelve-man teams. Currently, the matches consist of eight foursomes’ matches, eight fourball matches and twelve singles matches.The Ryder Cup is jointly administered by The PGA of America and The PGA European Tour. The event was founded on prestige rather than prize money, and many of the world’s greatest golfers have relished the opportunity to compete in the event. Golfing legends such as Walter Hagen, Gene Sarazen, Sam Snead, Lee Trevino, Jack Nicklaus, Tony Jacklin, Severiano Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, Ian Woosnam, Colin Montgomerie, Darren Clarke, Tiger Woods and Sergio Garcia are just some of the players who have featured over the years.
