INTRODUCTION

France Galop is the governing body, responsible for over 500 flat and hurdle race meetings each calendar year. Races are categorized in to 3 tiers known as “G1” (Group 1), “G2” and “G3”, where “G1” represents the most prestigious 26 races on the circuit.

The circuit includes the Gras Savoye Grand Steeple Chase de Paris (French Grand National), Prix du Jockey Club (French Derby), Prix de Diane Hermès (French Oaks) ending with the premier event of the season, the Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe. Each year, France Galop organizes more than 6,500 races at racetracks throughout France, and operates Longchamp Racecourse, Auteuil, and the Saint-Cloud Racecourse. The organization also organises steeplechase racing at Enghien Racecourse in Val d'Oise. In addition, France Galop operates the racecourses and manages the training centres at Chantilly, Maisons-Laffitte and Deauville-La Touques and Deauville-Clairefontaine.
