| The Football Association of Wales (FAW) is the governing body of football in Wales. The FAW is responsible for the administration of football in Wales, running the six international teams. Established in 1876, it is the third-oldest association in the world, and is one of the four associations which make up the International Football Association Board which is responsible for the Laws of the Game. INTRODUCTION
On 25th March 1876 The Welsh National Football Team played their first competitive match against Scotland in Glasgow, making them the third oldest international football team in the world. Today, The FAW continues to compete on the international stage in European Championship and World Cup competition. Like all international sides, the Welsh also play regular friendly fixtures against some of the best teams in the world.
The FAW have over the years regularly beaten some of the best teams in the world. Recent and past stars of the side include Ian Rush, Ryan Giggs, Robbie Savage, Craig Bellamy and Robert Earnshaw.
The FAW Archive is an extensive record of all European Championship Qualifiers, World Cup Qualifiers and Friendly Internationals played by Wales since 2000.
