FOOTAGE COLLECTION
Long Form footage is available from all forms of international cricket matches (Test Matches / ODIs / Twenty20s) played in Australia from 1978 to the present day.
Relive moments including:
Steve Waugh’s last ball century at the SCG in 2003. Australia's captain Steve Waugh hits a boundary off the last ball of the day to bring up his century against England at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
Lillee claims top billing in 1981. When Denis Lillee claimed the wicket of Larry Gomes (caught by Greg Chappell) in 1981, he became the highest wicket taker in Test cricket.
Kim Hughes retires as captain. With a tear in his eye, Kim Hughes announced his resignation as Australian captain at the conclusion of the 2nd Test against the West Indies at the Gabba, on the 26th November, 1984.
Lights on. On the 28th November 1978, the face of cricket changed when Australia took on the West Indies at the SCG - the first official international cricket game played under artificial lighting.
Allan Lamb's 18 to win. England batsman Allan Lamb hit Australian Bruce Reid for 18 in the final over of the ODI at the SCG on the 22nd January 1987 to win the game. His 2, 4, 6, 2, 4 took England to victory with a ball to spare in what proved to be an incredibly thrilling contest.
Whitney’s last over. Australian number 11 batsman Mike Whitney survives the final over against New Zealander Richard Hadlee at the MCG in 1987 to save the Test for Australia.
Chappell-Lillee-Marsh last Test. The end of the 5th Test against Pakistan at the SCG in 1984 saw three Australian legends retire from the game together; Greg Chappell, Dennis Lillee and Rod Marsh.
Lillee’s Aluminium Bat. On Day one of the 1st Test against England in Perth, 1979, Dennis Lillee used an aluminium bat which was soon rejected by cricket officials.
Warne’s hat-trick. Australia’s spin legend takes a hat-trick on his home ground, the Melbourne Cricket Ground against England in 1994.
John Dyson’s catch. 1982 saw John Dyson take an outstanding outfield catch at the SCG to dismiss West Indian Sylvester Clarke.
Border's wicket haul. In the 4th Test of the 1988-89 series against the West Indies, Australian captain Allan Border took an extraordinary 11 wickets for 96 runs!
Underarm. For the final ball of the ODI at the MCG against New Zealand on the 1st February 1981, Australian captain Greg Chappell instructed his brother Trevor to bowl the last ball 'underarm' in order to prevent New Zealand from getting the six they needed to draw the game. This caused outrage in the New Zealand camp and even prompted angry reactions from the then New Zealand Prime Minister.
Lance Cairns big hitting. New Zealand all-rounder Lance Cairns reached his half century in 21 balls at the MCG in 1983.
McGrath, Langer and Warne retire. Just like in 1984, Australia bid farewell to three legends in the same Test match when Langer, McGrath, and Warne played their last match at SCG at the end of the 2006-07 Ashes Series.
