THE OCA ARCHIVE

The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) is a governing body of Olympic sports in Asia, and was approved for formation in New Delhi during the Asian Games Federation (AGF) Council Meeting held on November 26, 1981. One year later it was officially founded on December 5, 1982 in New Delhi during the IX Asian Games which were the last games under the "AGF" umbrella. The OCA has 45 member countries under the leadership of current President Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah.

INTRODUCTION

All sport in Asia is governed by The OCA, which has the mandate to supervise and encourage sport at the highest competitive levels. It presides over a vast geographic area which includes the Middle East, South East Asia, and the countries from the former Soviet Union.

Events organised by The OCA that are available within The OCA Archive include The Asian Games, The Winter Asian Games, The Beach Asian Games, and The Indoor Asian Games. The Asian Games are the pinnacle and at the 15th Games in Doha there were over 100 different sports including some of the more traditional Asian sports like wushu, sepaktakraw, kabaddi, softball,bowling, chess, aerobics, billiards, canoeing and many more.


The OCA Archive is a collection of footage featuring the top international Asian athletes.

FOOTAGE COLLECTION

The OCA Archive includes 3,000 hours of The 15th Asian Games 2006 with footage from all major events in The OCA Sporting calendar. The collection contains footage from The Winter and Asian Games, The Beach Asian Games and The Indoor Asian Games.

The Winter Asian Games include events such as Short Track Speed Skating, Speed Skating, Ice Hockey, Biathlon, Alpine Skiing, Snowboard, Cross-Country Skiing, Free Style Skiing, Figure Skating and Curling.

Asian Games include such disciplines as Archery, Athletics, Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Body Building, Bowling, Boxing, Canoe-Kayak, Chess, Cue Sports, Cycling, Equestrian, Fencing, Soccer, Golf, Gymnastics, Handball, Hockey, Judo, Kabaddi, Karatedo, Rowing, Rugby, Sailing, Shooting, Sepaktakraw, Softball, Soft Tennis, Squash, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Triathlon, Volleyball, Weightlifting, Wrestling and Wushu.

The Beach Asian Games include beach-oriented sports,Wind Surfing, Body Building, Surfing, Beach Handball, Beach Soccer, Triathlon, JetSki, Paragliding, Woodball, Beach Volley, Beach Takraw and Marathon Swimming.

The Indoor Asian Games are held every two years. Sports at the Indoor Games include Aerobics, Billiards, Bowling, Chess, DanceSport, Dragon and Lion Dance, Electronic Sports (E-Sports), Extreme Sports (X-Sports), Futsal, Hoop Sepaktakraw, Indoor Athletics, Indoor Cycling, Indoor Hockey, Muay and Swimming

The OCA Archive includes the following programming from the 15th Asian Games 2006 in Doha , Qatar.

  • 30 x 52 minutes highlights which comprises 2 x 52 minute highlights per day with cleared English commentary and International Sound.
  • 1 x 2 hour Official Film with cleared English commentary and International Sound.
