Golden League gets new name and sponsor!

The start of the 2008 athletics season has seen the IAAF announce a new agreement with the Swedish company AF for the title sponsorship of it’s flagship Golden League meetings. The technical consulting company signed a two year agreement for the sponsorship rights which will incorporate all six Golden League Events. The competition has been re-branded The ‘AF Golden League’ and the event logo now incorporates the graphic of the Swedish company.

With over 4,000 employees and a worldwide presence, the AF Group appears to be the ideal partner to the prestigious athletics series as it bids to broaden the international appeal of its events. AF have long supported international athletics and boast Susanna Kallur, Swedish international hurdler and current world indoor record holder, as one of their employees.

The Golden League series was established in 1998 and has since remained pivotal to the international athletics calendar. Competitors gather from all over the globe to compete across Europe, and athletes who win their event at all six meetings take home a share of the $1 million US dollar jackpot prize. The 2008 AF Golden League is currently in full flow with five athletes still in contention for the top prize.
