Despite poor weather conditions, July and August was a busy time for The ECB as a number of high profile domestic and international fixtures were played.
India sealed their first Test series win in England for 21 years with a draw at the third NPower Test Match at The Oval, which gave them 1-0 series win. Veteran spinner Anil Kumble marked his final test match in England with his maiden test hundred. The result sees India move up to third in The ICC Test Championship, with England retaining second place.
In The Natwest One Day International (ODI) Series, England will be looking for a strong showing against India after losing the recent three match series against the West Indies. Andrew Flintoff will be back after injury and Stuart Broad should return to international action after strong displays earlier in the year.
The Twenty20 competition concluded in a dramatic final day at Edgbaston. Strong favourites Lancashire were shocked in the first semi-final losing by 8 wickets to Gloucestershire, while in the second game Kent proved too strong for Sussex. Kent then edged a thrilling final with seam bowler Ryan McLaren taking a 17th over hat-trick for the Spitfires before they chased down their target of 146 with three balls to spare.
England’s women recently overcame their New Zealand counterparts with a 2-1 series win in their Twenty20 series. The Kiwis hit back with a victory in the first game of the 6 match Natwest One day series.
