Fashion: The Fall 2008 Runway season was an exciting one as IMG Fashion featured the best of the best in designers, models and creative talents worldwide. Collections were presented at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, New York, Los Angeles, Lakmé Fashion Week (Mumbai) and Rosemount Australian Fashion Week (Sydney). IMG Fashion showcased well-established and emerging designers from around the world including; Hugo by Hugo Boss, Michalsky, Michael Kors, Vera Wang, Badgley Mischka, Anna Sui, Carolina Herrera, Zac Posen, Betsey Johnson, Nicholai by Nicky Hilton, Lauren Conrad Collection, Pussycat Dolls by Robin Antin, Anuj Sharma, Abdul Halder, Ruchi Mehta, Alex Perry, Anna Thomas, Lisa Ho and Zimmermann.

In addition to the world’s leading press, these five exclusive events attracted nearly 200,000 international guests, buyers, celebrities, VIPs and fashionistas to celebrate one of the world’s most exciting industries.

Motorsport

Le Mans Series: Peugeot kicked off the new Le Mans Series season in perfect fashion as Marc Gene took the chequered flag at Barcelona last month. Gene was quick throughout the race and held off a strong challenge from his expected championship contender, Audi driver Nicholas Minassian. Perhaps the biggest cheer of the day was saved for the performance of the Charouz Racing System Team, with the privateers managing to finish an impressive third, ahead of several works teams. The Le Mans Series moved to Monza in late April, before heading to the Spa Circuit in Belgium for the first race in May.

Cricket

Fresh from their 2-1 Test Series win in New Zealand, England’s cricketers returned home for the start of the domestic season last month. With more media hype surrounding cricket than perhaps ever before, all the big names will be keen to hit the ground running in preparation for the International summer, which kicks off at Lord’s on May 15, where New Zealand will be looking to avenge their recent loss, before the South Africans arrive in the second half of the summer.

Speedway Double World Champion Jason Crump recently broke the long standing track record at Arlington Raceway, completing his 4 laps in 54.9 seconds!

DID YOU KNOW

Ian ‘The Machine’ Freeman will be coming out of retirement to challenge Paul ‘Boom Boom’ Cahoon for the Light British Heavyweight Title at Cage Rage 26 this month. The fight takes place on May 10 at the NEC Arena in Birmingham.
